FROM THE ITHACA JOURNAL:
» Judy Pierpont, Freeville: I am supporting Linda Lavine for Dryden Town Board. She is committed to protecting our town from the heavy-industrial effects of hydraulic fracturing, working tirelessly and effectively for our drilling ban. She has useful skills for this job. She analyzes complex situations clearly, listens carefully to others and finds workable solutions.
» Suzanne McMannis, Freeville: I support Mary Ann Sumner's re-election as Dryden Town Supervisor. The hydraulic fracturing battle is not simply about what we don't want in Dryden. I oppose fracking because I believe our future lies elsewhere. Mary Ann Sumner can lead Dryden to a safer, greener and far more sensible future.
» Deborah Cipolla-Dennis, Freeville: On Nov. 8, vote for Mary Ann Sumner, Linda Lavine and Joseph Solomon to protect Dryden from industrialization. Dryden Republicans are choosing to make the recently passed zoning law prohibiting gas drilling a wedge issue. Make sure you are registered to vote. Vote to keep our community a place you want to live.
» Hilary Lambert, Ithaca: When the polls open in Dryden at 6 a.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8, I will vote for Mary Ann Sumner (town supervisor) Joe Solomon and Linda Lavine (town board). Your vote is needed to help them protect Dryden. Polls will be open until 9 p.m. Your vote counts.
» Joe Wilson, Ithaca: The clear choices in Dryden's Town election are Mary Ann Sumner, Joseph Solomon and Linda Lavine. They are fighting to ban fracking, for common sense zoning, and to keep our low tax rate. By contrast, two of three on the Republican slate are for fracking, and the other can't decide.
» Nancy Morgan, Dryden: Dryden needs Mary Ann Sumner as town supervisor. She's open-minded and willing to work long hours to understand complex issues. She, Joseph Solomon, and Linda Lavine (town board candidates) are deeply committed to sustainable progress in Dryden, with protection from hydraulic fracturing devastation. They are for the people, not predatory corporations.
» Kathy Zahler, Dryden: Republican spin notwithstanding, Dryden's town tax rate is the second-lowest in the county. Bad economy notwithstanding, Dryden's finances are in excellent shape. Suspiciously-timed lawsuit notwithstanding, Dryden is standing strong for local control. I will vote for Mary Ann Sumner, Joseph Solomon, and Linda Lavine Nov. 8 because they represent my town, not outside interests.
» Joanne Cipolla-Dennis, Freeville: Banning drilling in Dryden means I won't lose my clean air and water, or my health and property. Prevent eminent domain and compulsory integration, the legal taking of gas from neighbors near leased farms. Keep your constitutional rights safe by voting for Mary Ann Sumner, Linda Lavine, and Joe Solomon.
» Rick Ryan, Dryden: In Dryden, this upcoming election revolves around fracking. There are three people that have openly voiced that they oppose this dirty practice in our area. They are Mary Ann Sumner for supervisor, and Joe Solomon and Linda Lavine for the town board. This November, vote to protect Dryden.
» Martha N. Wilson, Dryden: To keep fracking out of the Town of Dryden, vote for Mary Ann Sumner, Joseph Solomon and Linda Lavine on Nov. 8. They are running to Protect Dryden. If, on the other hand you want fracking in our town, vote for the other candidates.
» Peter Davies, Dryden: The current Dryden town board has had the courage to protect the town from the dangers of fracking. Town Supervisor Mary Ann Sumner and Councilman Joe Solomon deserve our strong support for re-election. Only newcomer Linda Lavine will likewise enable Dryden to remain a place where we want to live.
» James Skaley, Dryden: Protecting Dryden means protecting Varna residents with guidelines to improve the hamlet's amenities and enhance quality of life. Varna residents will soon have a plan to protect the hamlet character. Schickel as a developer sees no need for guidelines. Vote Mary Ann Sumner, Joseph Solomon and Linda Lavine for a better Dryden.
» Carol Pierce Colfer, Etna: As a rural homeowner in Dryden, my home is close to possible fracking activity, which could endanger the investment in my home. I also do not want to see my own quality of life adversely affected. Vote to protect Dryden; choose Mary Ann Sumner, Linda Lavine and Joseph Solomon.
» Robert Jacobson, Dryden: I would like to clearly endorse Mary Ann Sumner for supervisor. Her support and leadership regarding not only hydrofracking but town government in general has been open to varying opinions and yet willing to take a position and lead.
» Caleb Ruth, Dryden: Linda Lavine will work to maintain the ban on industrial activity in the Town of Dryden. Dryden is a town of beautiful rolling hills and cultivated fields. We do not want to spoil it with drilling rigs and tanker trucks. Vote for Linda Lavine, Joseph Solomon and Mary Ann Sumner.
» Mike Lane, Tompkins County legislator, Dryden: Hardworking, sharp at budgeting and responsive to constituents, Mary Ann Sumner earns our support for another term. Joe Solomon brings quiet but serious expertise, while Linda Lavine offers knowledge and a passion to protect our natural resources. Together they will be an effective team for Dryden's future.
» Martha Robertson, Tompkins County legislator, Dryden: In Dryden, Mary Ann Sumner, Joe Solomon and Linda Lavine know that hydrofracking will decimate our tax base as well as our water, air and peace of mind. They'll uphold the ban on fracking. The Republicans won't say what they'd do if elected. Why won't they give a clear answer?
» Nancy Miller and Jens Wennberg, Freeville: Dryden residents, join us. We are voting on Nov. 8 for Mary Ann Sumner, Joe Solomon and Linda Lavine. We want to save our water. We want to preserve the ban on hydrofracking. We want to protect Dryden. Make your voice heard by voting in this most important local election.
» Nancy Lee Koschmann, Town of Dryden: I moved to Dryden because of the lovely woods, creeks and meadows, and I don't want this beautiful land ruined by fracking activity. I want my grandchildren — and yours — to enjoy clean water, fresh air, quiet roads and bountiful wildlife. Please vote to protect Dryden: Mary Ann Sumner, Linda Lavine, Joseph Solomon.
